Mumbai: Despite demonetisation in India,
the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), apex body of diamond
industry, is expecting that the polished diamond exports will increase by 10-15
per cent to the United States under the presidency of Donald Trump.
Vicenza: India Pavilion with 16 exhibitors
across categories including jewellery, loose stones and machinery will be part
of the Vicenzaoro Winter 2017 to be held from 20-25th January 2017 at Vicenza
Italy. Vicenzaoro, a leading event for the international jewellery industry, is
attended by a large number of international companies as well as by visitors
and buyers from all over the globe. With around 1500 exhibiting companies from
across the globe, presence at the Vicenzaoro is indispensable in the sector as
it is the first event on the international calendar.
New York: A report in the prestigious Wall
Street Journal looks into the investor interest in colored diamonds as a result
of extremely low returns on a range of other investment options.
Johannesburg: Rockwell Diamonds reported
revenue dived 51 percent to $2.7 million (CAD 3.5 million) in the third fiscal
quarter as litigation forced the company to suspend operations at its
Wouterspan mine in South Africa.
Perth: Rio Tinto’s rough-diamond production
grew 4 percent to 18 million carats in 2016, the lower end of its guidance, as
it continued to step up underground operations at its Argyle mine in Australia.

Cleaver, De Beers Group CEO, yesterday highlighted the importance of all parts
of the diamond sector working together, following the unpredictable events of a
volatile year in 2016.

eighth edition of BrilliANT, the Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair, will be Aaron
Shum's "Eden of Coronet," a Gibson Guitar adorned with over 400
carats of Coronet® diamonds, set in approximately 1.6 kg of 18-karat white
gold. The masterpiece was awarded a Guinness World Records™ title for the Most
Valuable Guitar in 2015 and has been valued at US$ two million.

Mumbai: India's polished diamond exports
were sailing along quite nicely in 2016, having put the significant downturn of
2015 squarely behind and having nearly returned to 2014 and 2013 levels, until
the bottom fell out in November as exports dropped 53% from $2.52 billion in
October to $1.18 billion in November.
