The Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) returns to Asia, where it will highlight state of the art technology and innovation in the jewellery and watch industries at this year's 35th edition of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, March 1-5, 2018.

Economy India on the right track

The Third quarter (Q3) estimate of Gross Domestic Product released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation estimates the GDP to grow at 7.2 percent Q3 (2017-18). As per CSO, “Real GDP or GDP at constant prices has reached Rs 32.50 lakh crore in Q3 2017-18 as against Rs 30.32 Lakh crore in Q3 2016-17. The Real GVA, i.e, GVA at basic constant prices (2011-12) is expected to increase from 112.48 lakh crore in 2016-17 to 119.64 lakh crore in 2017-18.

Kagem Emerald auction bags $10.8mn

Emeralds from the Kagem mine in Lufwanyama District have been sold at auction for a total of US$10.8 million. Proceeds from the auction will be fully repatriated to Zambia, with all royalties due to the Zambian Government paid on the full sales prices achieved at the auction, the company stressed.

The auction was of predominantly commercial quality rough emeralds mined by Kagem Mining Ltd - believed to be the world’s single largest producing emerald mine - which is 75% owned by Gemfields and 25% by the Government of the Republic of Zambia.

HK Jewellery Show Opens at HKCEC

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 35th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show starts its five-day run (1-5 March) today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

This year’s show welcomes more than 2,580 exhibitors from 39 countries and regions, including new exhibitors from Lebanon, Sweden and Ukraine, showcasing finished fine jewellery such as top-tier jewellery pieces, internationally celebrated brands, new designer collections, antique jewellery and bridal jewellery.

A new field in the Jequitinhonha River

Brazil Minerals, announced that a new field in one of its properties in the Jequitinhonha River valley in Brazil is beginning to produce gold and diamonds. The Company is actively removing alluvium-type mineralized material found after excavating 60 feet deep in a dry area.

Every truckload of material processed in the modular recovery unit operated by the Company has yielded fine gold. The concentration of gold obtained from each production run has varied, which is expected from an alluvium-type deposit, and ranged from economically feasible to highly attractive.

Fura Closes Second Tranche

Fura Gems has closed the second tranche of its previously announced non-brokered private placement of common shares. The Company issued 13,156,445 common shares pursuant to the Second Tranche at a price of $0.60 per share for aggregate gross proceeds of $7,893,867. The Company has raised aggregate proceeds of $12,393,868 pursuant to the Offering, including the $4,500,000 raised in the first tranche.
