According
to Lucara Diamond they have recovered of a 472 carat, top light brown gem
diamond, the third largest diamond ever recovered from its 100% owned Karowe
Diamond Mine located in Botswana.
CEO,
Eira Thomas comments, “In 2018, mining at Karowe is focused in the high value
south lobe, which consistently delivers large, high quality diamonds in excess
of 10.8 carats in size. The 472 carat is
the third largest diamond ever recovered from the mine and will be sold
alongside other exceptional stones recovered since the beginning of the year as
part of the first exceptional stone tender (EST) later in 2018.”

special Bonas Polished Diamond Tender, which will be held at the upcoming
CARAT+ Diamond and Jewellery Fair at the Antwerp EXPO from Sunday 6th May until
Tuesday 8th May 2018.
Viewings
will take place at booth number 1A-02 (next to the VIP room) from 10 am until
6.30pm
(until 4.30pm on Tuesday 8th May). The sale will close on Wednesday 9th May at
15:00 Antwerp (CET) time and will be an online.

Beers Group announced that its Forevermark diamond brand has launched in
Indonesia as it continues on its global growth trajectory.
For
the market launch Forevermark is partnering with Indonesia’s premier jewellery company,
Central Mega Kencana (CMK), which will sell Forevermark in its leading retail
brands, Frank & Co., The Palace and Miss Mondial. Forevermark will initially be sold in 12
stores in the CMK network in the Jakarta region, with plans to expand further
in the near future.

Alrosa
plans to hold an auction for the sale of special size rough diamonds over 10.8
carats in Vladivostok from April 16 to 27, 2018. In total, the company will
auction 110 gem quality lots.
The
total weight of auctioned diamonds is 1946 carats; the largest gemstone weighs
46.64 carats. The assortment will consist of rough diamonds mined from the
deposits of PJSC ALROSA, and its subsidiaries – JSC Almazy Anabara, PJSC
Alrosa-Nyurba and PJSC Severalmaz.
THE
Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company’s (ZCDC) stock pile of about 1,5 million
carats has improved its gem or near gem quality from predominantly industrial
quality by 34 percentage points following an enhanced cleaning and deep boiling
exercise that aims to maximise on revenue.
Through
its new Diamond Value Management (DVM) processes which analyses a diamond’s
passage “from the mine to the finger”, the state owned diamond mining entity is
seeking to maximise revenue for the fiscus by ensuring efficiency and
effectiveness across the entire value chain. Zimbabwe last year sold diamonds
at a measly average of $54,74 per carat with the precious stones’ composition
standing at 93,2 percent industrial and just 6,8 percent gem or near gem
quality.
