The
international group Mujeres Brillantes, which aims to increase the role of
women in the jeweler sector worldwide, has just announced that the city chosen
to host the 2018 General Meeting will be Madrid, Spain.
The
Meeting will be held in September during the Jewelery Show –Madrid Joya from
September 11st to September 16th .
The
Fair is the main one in Spain and one of the most prestigious in Europe. The
idea of the Mujeres Brillantes since its
creation is to hold these Annual Meetings in different cities to increase the
relevance of the role of women, in
addition to raising the awareness of industry leaders to change their
strategies and give women more opportunities in leadership positions.
Dubai
Diamond Exchange (DDE), a DMCC platform, and the only bourse in the Middle East
affiliated with the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), has elected its
new Board of Directors with Dubai Diamond Exchange Chairman, Ahmed Bin Sulayem,
at the helm.

The World’s Premier Diamond Event, wowed audiences at its highly-anticipated
CARAT+ Night evening event on Sunday, May 6, welcoming model and actress
Elizabeth Hurley and a surprise cache of vintage cars driven through the show
floor – believed to be a trade show first for the sector.
Hurley,
who dazzled in a gold sequinned dress and Cascade collection jewels by CARAT+
exhibitor, Roberto Coin, formally opened the show by cutting a ceremonial
ribbon. She was then led on a guided tour of the show floor, visiting leading
exhibitors and discovering some of the most exceptional diamonds, fancy colour
diamonds and coloured gemstones on display.
CARAT+,
the world’s premier diamond event, is pleased to unveil the diamond jewellery
collections and unique pieces are being displayed at Antwerp Expo by returning
exhibitor, Roberto Coin. The Italian fine jewellery brand showcases its
collections at CARAT+, following a successful showing at the event in 2017.
Sibanye-Stillwater
reports that all 13 of its employees who were trapped underground at its
Masakhane mine, Driefontein operations have now been recovered by mine rescue
personnel. Regrettably, the last three employees who were recovered, passed
away from their injuries, bringing the total number of fatalities as a result
of the seismic event, to seven.
The
six employees who were successfully rescued, are in hospital and are in a
stable condition. The families of the employees have been contacted and are
receiving necessary support and counselling. The board and management of
Sibanye-Stillwater wishes to express its sincere condolences to friends and
family of the deceased employees and those impacted by this tragic event.

Diamond announces the promotion of Naseem Lahri to Managing Director of Boteti
Mining (Pty) Ltd, Lucara's 100% owned subsidiary in Botswana, effective
immediately.
Naseem
Banu Lahri is an accomplished Professional Accountant with a Masters in
Strategic Management (B COM, FCCA), with more than 17 years' experience in the
mining industry, including 10 years within Corporate Finance at Debswana at the
senior management level. She has also served as a board member in the Debswana
Pension Fund, Botswana Accountancy College and Pula Medical Aid.
According
to the Emirates pr, the UAE Cabinet has introduced the VAT Reversed Charge
mechanism for investors in gold, diamond and precious metals to maintain UAE’s
high ranking in the ease of doing business indicators and to allow investors in
gold, diamond and precious metals to conduct business with ease.
The
VAT Reversed mechanism will exempt trading in gold, diamond and precious metals
from the VAT, which will stabilise and maintain the competitiveness of the
local precious metals sector. The VAT Reversed mechanism encourages investments
in precious metals used in trade with a purity of 99% or more.
Supervisory
Board recommended to pay dividends for 2017 in the amount of RUB 5.24 per share!
PJSC Alrosa Supervisory Board considered a number of issues related to the
preparation for the shareholders' annual general meeting at the meeting on
April 28.
In
particular, the Supervisory Board recommended the payment of dividends for 2017
in the amount of RUB 5.24 per share. The shareholders are recommended to pay
RUB 38.592 billion as dividends for 2017, which is about 50 % of Alrosa net
profit under IFRS.
In
April we launched our second round of public consultation on the Code of
Practices (COP), the standard against which all RJC members must be certified.
In this second round of public consultation we are proposing changes to the COP
and will be holding workshops in Paris and Antwerp (April), Mumbai and Surat
(June), and New York (July) to seek input from all interested parties.
