The inaugural session of the Indian Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival 2018 was held at Cannes, France. Hosted by noted actor Shri Sharad Kelkar, the Indian delegation present consisted of H.E. Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Ambassador of India to France, Shri Ashok Kumar Parmar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of I&B, Govt. Of India, Shri Prasoon Joshi, Writer, Poet and Chairman, Central Board of Film Certification India.

The second edition of Carat+, The World’s Premier Diamond Event, closed on Tuesday, May 8 after a positive three-days of buying, networking, glamour and evening entertainment.

 

The trade event surpassed its attendance goals, with a total of 3,829 visitors across all three days (up from 2,927 last year). Among those visitors were diamond professionals, buyers and members of the press from 50

countries, including India, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Hon’ble Minister for Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Mr Suresh Prabhu unveiled a white paper drafted by GJEPC at the one-day seminar titled “Diamond and Jewellery Financing 2018: Mitigating risks effectively.” The event organized by the Gems and Jewellery industry to find ways to reduce risks and infuse confidence into financiers, attended by leading banks and financial institutions including the SBI, Central Bank of India, IndusInd Bank, ECGC etc. also witnessed a huge turn out from the major industry players.

It is with much regret that the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) announce that as a result of the weak response to registration for the 38th World Diamond Congress due to be held in Tel Aviv, Israel, from June 19 to 21, no doubt also influenced by the rising tension in the region, they have reached a decision to postpone the Congress.
