The
President today gave assent to promulgate the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code
(Amendment) Ordinance, 2018. The Ordinance provides significant relief to home
buyers by recognizing their status as financial creditors. This would give them due representation in
the Committee of Creditors and make them an integral part of the decision
making process.
It
will also enable home buyers to invoke Section 7 of the Insolvency and
Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016 against errant developers. Another major beneficiary would be Micro,
Small and Medium Sector Enterprises (MSME), which form the backbone of the
Indian economy as the biggest employer, next only to the agriculture sector.

Through
a communication addressed to GJEPC, De-Beers informed it’s foray into synthetic diamond business with the
launch of a new line of fashion jewellery in September, 2018. Simultaneously on
Tuesday, De Beers through a press statement introduced Lightbox, a label
selling fashion jewellery at lower prices than existing laboratory grown
diamond offerings.
The
Diamond Producers Association’s (DPA) inaugural paid media campaigns have
garnered 1.5 billion media impressions among its target consumer audience –
American adults aged 21-34 – during the first 12 months of advertising.
DPA
spent $40 million on campaigns in the U.S. between June 2017 and June 2018.
Television and digital video (43 percent) and digital and social media (42
percent) were a major focus of investment. Print (10 percent) and strategic
out-of-home including cinema (5 percent) rounded out the mix. The media reached
98 percent of its core audience – on average 20 times over the course of the
year.
Brazil Minerals drilling campaign
Brazil
Minerals, announced strong initial results, its subsidiary Jupiter Gold
Corporation expanded the drilling campaign of its Paracatu Project from 6 holes
in an exploratory campaign to 25 holes in a detailed campaign. Eleven of the
twelve holes already drilled have shown visual evidence of gold.
