Diamond announces the appointment of Ayesha Hira as Lucara's Vice President of
Corporate Development and Strategy, effective immediately.
Ayesha
Hira is an experienced executive who began her career as a Canadian
geologist. Working initially in diamond,
base metals and gold exploration, she transitioned to capital markets working
with mining companies listed in North America, Australia, South Africa, UK and
Europe, and dealing with a global buy side client base.
The
Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) last week hosted its most successful Diamonds Do
Good Awards in Las Vegas. The funds raised will be used to provide higher
education scholarships and assistance to empower young people living in diamond
producing countries and where the diamond industry does business and to help
communicate this ‘diamonds do good’ impact to consumers.
Botswana
Top Achiever student and recent Yale graduate, Opelo Matome, represented DEF’s
Student Scholars. She said, “I am ever grateful for the opportunities I’ve been
granted through the support of organizations like the Diamond Empowerment Fund
and my country’s prioritization of education, truly one of the most powerful
catalysts for change”.

The
Minerals Council South Africa heard with deep sadness of the accident at
Sibanye-Stillwater’s Kloof Ikamva shaft on Monday 11 June 2018 which has
claimed the lives of four people. Rescue and recovery activities continue to
locate one remaining employee who is still missing.
The
Minerals Council extends its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues
of the deceased and offers its hopes to the family of the missing miner for his
safe return. And it again offers appreciation to the brave members of Mines
Rescue Services for their work.
Proposed
amendments to Income-tax Rules (I.T.Rules), 1962 - Inviting comments of
stakeholders said Income Tax Department (ITD). Income-tax Rules, 1962 prescribe
Form No.36 for filing an appeal to the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT).
Further, a memorandum of cross-objections to the ITAT can be filed in Form
No.36A.
The
existing Form No.36 and Form No 36A have not been revised since long. These Forms are required to be rationalised
to make them more informative and also to capture information regarding amount
disputed in pending appeals before ITAT, which is vital for formulating the
policy of the department for litigation management.

Acacia
regrets to announce a fatal accident involving an operator for one of our
contractors at North Mara. Sadock
Crispin Tindahinile passed away as a result of an accident which involved a
reversing vehicle at the Gokona deposit. The incident occurred at approximately
8.45 a.m. on 11 June 2018.
There
were no other injuries reported. Investigations into the incident are underway
and all relevant authorities have been informed. Peter Geleta, Acacia’s Interim
Chief Executive Officer, and the Acacia team express their sincere condolences
to the family and colleagues of the deceased.
