Fura Gems to acquire a 100% in ruby prospecting in Montepuez

Fura Gems, a new gemstone mining and marketing company with emerald and ruby assets in Colombia and Mozambique, respectively, has entered into a share purchase agreement pursuant to which the Company will acquire a 100% interest in ruby prospecting licence No. 5572L in the Montepuez District of Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique.

 

Dev Shetty, Fura’s President and CEO commented: “We are pleased to further consolidate our position in the main ruby belt of the Montepuez district of Mozambique. The merger of assets with Mustang and Regius announced last week, combined with the acquisition of this licence, now gives Fura further access to both the secondary alluvial and the primary deposit of rubies in the region.

The American Gem Society (AGS) held its annual Circle of Distinction Dinner to honor the outstanding accomplishments of key jewelry industry leaders. The distinguished event, held at New York City, celebrated the careers of three, highly-regarded industry professionals.

 

Stephen Lussier, Chief Executive Officer, Forevermark, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Terry Chandler, President/CEO, DCA, and David A. Bouffard, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Signet Jewelers Ltd., were both awarded the distinctive AGS Triple Zero Award.

Swarovski organized innovative online Gem Visions Design Contest 2018 exclusively for their Indian branding partners. Innovation and creativity are central to the Swarovski tradition, and both were called upon to measure success in a recent jewelry design contest for Swarovski Gemstones’ Indian Ingredient Branding partners.

 

Swarovski Gemstones branding partners across India have submitted their designs for the contest using 2018 Swarovski Zirconia or Gemstones novelties – the trend colors Fancy Morganite and Spring Green in the zirconia assortment, and Peach in genuine topaz.

India’s exports record highest growth

Despite increasing global protectionism, India’s export will continue to register healthy growth rates and is expected to touch USD 350 billion in the current fiscal said Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, in New Delhi.The Minister was speaking at the 2nd Services Excellence Awards and Summit – 2018 organised by ASSOCHAM.

 

The Minister stated that services sector is set to become a dominant driver of the Indian economy and will contribute $ 3 trillion of $ 5 trillion by 2025. In order to give a boost to the services sector Commerce Ministry has identified 12 champion services sectors for which Cabinet has approved a dedicated fund of 5000 crore to support initiatives for sectoral action.

Measures to restrict the Gold import

The Government has introduced the following measures to restrict the import of gold in the country:


  1. Imposition of restriction on duty free gold imports from the South Korea as allowed under the existing India-Korea CEPA.
  2. Imposition of self-use condition on Premiere Trading House and Star Trading House authorised to import precious metal (gold) directly from overseas bullion supplier (DGFT Notification No. 34/2015-20 dated 18.10.2017).
  3. Issuances of Trade Notice by DGFT for grant of licence for import of Gold to the refinery who holds a valid license from BIS (DGFT Trade Notices No.4 dated 21.04.2017 and No. 14 dated 24.08.2017).
  4. Restriction imposed on export of gold jewellery and articles, including medallions and coins (excluding legal tenders) of purity above 22 carats. (DGFT Notification No. 21/2015-20 dated 14.08.2017).
