President Gaetano Cavalieri has pledged CIBJO's support for India's giant
jewellery and gemstone sectors, during the opening ceremony of the summer
edition of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), which took place at
the Bombay Exhibition Centre this morning.
The
CIBJO President was a guest of honour at the opening ceremony, where together
with the GJEPC leadership he participated in a traditional candle-lighting
ceremony, led by the council's Chairman, Pramod Agrawal.
Addressing
the assembled gathering, Dr. Cavalieri congratulated the GJEPC for its ongoing
work in the development and promotion of the Indian gemstone and jewellery
sector, which today is the world's overwhelmingly dominant centre for the
processing of gemstones and jewellery, and also is its third largest national
jewellery consumer market.
Alrosa diamond tender NY earns $1.5
million
Diamonds
Alrosa, the cutting and polishing division of Alrosa, held a tender for the
sale of polished diamonds in the USA this July. This is the first tender for
polished diamonds after the reopening of Alrosa’s office in New York.
In
total, 111 stones of standard color with total weight of 308.97 carats were
sold. The total revenue from sales amounted to $1.5 million. Companies from the
largest centers of diamond trade, including Belgium, India, Israel and the US,
participated in the tender.
Golden
Reign Resources, Marlin Gold Mining and Sailfish Royalty Corp. Announces that
Golden Reign and Marlin have entered into a definitive agreement, unanimously
approved by each of the boards of directors of Golden Reign and Marlin,
pursuant to which Golden Reign and Marlin propose to complete the previously
announced business combination whereby Golden Reign will acquire all of the
issued and outstanding shares of Marlin by way of plan of arrangement. As a
condition to closing the Transaction, Sailfish has agreed to restructure its

According
to the World Gold Council, holdings in global gold-backed ETFs and similar
products fell by 39t to 2,394t in July, pushing assets under management (AUM)
in US dollars down by 4% to US$94bn from US$98bn in June. Gold price
performance was a large contributor to outflows as it fell over 2% in US dollar
terms.
All
regions experienced outflows in July. ETF outflows were dominated by North
American funds, losing US$984mn. Asia experienced the largest outflows on a
percentage basis (6.2%), while Europe reversed the recent trend of inflows,
losing 8.0t (US$302mn).
