Aisshpra
Gems & Jewels celebrates Independence Day as the Aisshpra Annual Day. The
day is celebrated with the spirit of patriotism and unity every year. The day
began with the flag hoisting ceremony at Celebrations Hall, Gorakhpur in the
presence of the directors of the Group Mr Atul Saraf, Mr Anoop Saraf, Mr Vaibhav
Saraf, Mr Saumitra Saraf and 500 members of the Aisshpra family. It was
followed by the lamp lighting ceremony by the patriarch of the Group, Shri Bal Krishna
Saraf.

The World Jewellery Confederation, has paid tribute to Kofi Annan, the former
Secretary General of the United Nations, who died in Switzerland on August 18
at age 80. CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri described him as "giant among
men, whose legacy will be measured by the millions of people he helped save
from abject poverty and hopelessness."
The
first African to head the international body, during his two terms as Secretary
General, from 1997 to 2006, the Ghanaian diplomat formulated the Millennium
Development Goals and established the UN Global Compact, both of which can be

poverty and providing them with a promise for a better future. He was awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001 for his role in revitalising the United Nations.

subsidiary, has entered into a Collaboration Agreement with Sarine Technologies
Ltd. Clara will be the exclusive, worldwide customer for customized interfaces
and versions of Sarine's Galaxy inclusion mapping technology and its Advisor optimal
rough planning for use with Clara's 100% owned, proprietary digital diamond
sales platform.
Clara
is on track to launch in 2018, with inaugural rough diamond sales set to

More
than 40 GIA members from all over India connected
With
an aim to foster networking among alumni, GIA India hosted a meet-and-greet
event at its booth in the recently concluded India International Jewellery Show
(IIJS) 2018. More than 40 GIA alumni from all over India gathered for the
opportunity to connect with friends and network for business.
Not
only did the Mumbai and New Delhi GIA Alumni Association chapters participate,
alumni from Jaipur, Surat and Kolkata also joined in and suggested meetings be
held at regular intervals. Some utilised this opportunity to share ideas on how
GIA India can work closely with the alumni association chapters.
PJSC
Alrosa, the world’s leading rough diamond miner, has tested payment mechanism
with foreign clients in Russian currency. As an experiment, relevant
transactions were conducted with clients from China and India. If necessary,
the Company is ready to use this payment scheme in rubles in the future.
VTB
was in charge of the transaction in China. The Chinese company paid for the
goods purchased at the auction for special-size rough diamonds (+10.8 carats)
held by Alrosa in Hong Kong in June. By agreement with the winner of one of the
lots, the contract provided for the payment in Russian rubles instead of US
dollars. Payment was made through VTB branch in Shanghai.
The
Federal Reserve Board announced an $8.6 million fine against Citigroup for the
improper execution of mortgage-related documents.
The
$8.6 million penalty addresses the deficient execution and notarization of
certain mortgage-related affidavits prepared by a subsidiary, CitiFinancial.
The improper practices occurred in 2015 and were corrected. CitiFinancial
exited the mortgage servicing business in 2017.
Union
Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu held
meeting with representatives of various Exports Promotion Councils (EPCs),
including Plantation Boards, Fragrance and Flavour Centre and Airport Authority
of India in New Delhi. The Minister elaborated on the action plan for branding
and marketing of the Geographical Indications (GI) products and asked the EPCs
to align with the Ministry of Commerce for promotion GI products.
The
Minister also asked the EPCs to set up GI stalls at major international
airports and organize international fairs to popularize GI products globally.
In this connection, he called for creating awareness among consumers about the
GI products. Suresh Prabhu said that the promotion of GI products will connect
the local artisans with the global markets, which in turn will give them
opportunity at the international level and help entire value chain grow.
