At its meeting on September 24, the Alrosa Supervisory Board approved the acquisition of a 100% stake in Joint-Stock Company “Production Corporation Kristall from the Russian Federation represented by the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) on the terms set forth in the decree of the Russian Government.

 

According to the previously approved Russian Government decree, the value of the 100% equity interest in Kristall was determined on the basis of an independent appraiser's report at RUB 1,886 million. Alrosa’s Supervisory Board assigned the company’s Chief Executive Officer to enter into a sale and purchase agreement for Kristall's shares under the conditions proposed by Rosimushchestvo. By the end of the year, the management is to prepare and submit an action plan to operate and develop Kristall as part of Alrosa Group to the Supervisory Board for consideration.

Comprising 41 tables, fully secured with cameras, state-of-the-art technology and specialist lighting, the auction facility is the largest of its kind in the world. Able to host 200 buyers at one time, the DDE has the capacity to host multiple tenders simultaneously.

Members of the World Diamond Council (WDC) will be traveling to Antwerp, Belgium, for the organization’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled to take place October 2 and 3, 2019. The yearly gathering of the WDC membership will provide the opportunity to review the position of the diamond and jewelry industry regarding the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, less than two months before the KP ends its current reform and review cycle.

 

The 2019 WDC Annual General Meeting is being organized by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), which during the evening of October 3 will also host a gala dinner for participants, members of the local diamond industry, representatives of government and the European Union, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Botswana Diamonds (BOD) announce that, together with its associate Vutomi, it has signed a contract mining and processing agreement with Eurafrican Diamond Corporation (EDC) to mine and process the diamond-bearing gravels and residual stockpiles on a portion of the Marsfontein farm.

 

The agreement gives EDC a contract for the mining and processing of the identified deposits on the Marsfontein Mining Permit, with 25% of the pre-tax revenue from larger or high value Special Stones and 15% from the standard Run of Mine stones accruing to Vutomi.
