Firestone’s Third Liqhobong Tender in Antwerp

Antwerp: In October Firestone Diamonds announced the recovery of its first diamond from the Liqhobong Diamond Mine in Lesotho since the the re-commissioning of the new plant. Liqhobong is owned 75% by Firestone and 25% by the Government of Lesotho. Firestone has been ramping up production since then, and will hold its third tender in Antwerp as planned.

The tender will take place in Antwerp at the Antwerp Diamond Tender Facility from Monday the 15th of May to Friday the 19th of May 2017, closing by 12:00, with results being announced shortly afterwards. Production guidance for financial year ending June 2017 remains as announced in July 2016, with 1.8 to 2 million tons treated and between 380,000 and 450,000 carats recovered.

Full production rates expected to take at least six months. At full production, Liqhobong will produce one million carats per annum, which would place it in the mid‐tier of diamond mines globally.
