India-SAARC-ME Buyer-Seller Meet in May

New Delhi: Over 60 buyers from SAARC, Middle East and South East Asia are expected to attend the second edition of the India-SAARC-ME Buyer-Seller meet that is being hosted by GJEPC from May 14-16 in Delhi. About 40 leading manufacturers of plain gold and diamond studded jewellery from across India are also expected to participate. Jewellery studded with synthetic diamonds will not be permitted.

The buyers will be from countries such as Bangladesh, Siingapore, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Oman, Malaysia, Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco etc. and will include jewellery retailers, representatives from chain stores, wholesalers, traders etc.

The GJEPC said that these selected regions have immense trade potential due to a similarlity in preferences and tastes with regard to jewellery. Indian Jewellery, particularly in the handmade segment, has been popular.

Trade relations with these countries and regions have also become increasingly significant over the last few years. Council has also focused attention on promoting Indian jewellery in these regions, which has been reflected in the large buyer attendance from there at key shows like IIJS and IIJS Signature. GJEPC says that the BSM offers a gateway to a huge potential market, and will help boost bilateral trade and investment.

The event will have a Buyer-Seller interaction format for the first two days and a mini-exhibition format on the third day. The buyers and sellers will be divided into three groups of equal size, and include a mix of companies from each region. Every group will have one-to-one meetings of about 35-40 mins each over the first two days. They can interact with buyers and sellers from other groups on the third day.
