A positive re-start at Vicenza!

A slow re-start for Italian jewellery, as some exponents in the sector outlined, comparing Italian jewellery retailers’ reprisal after the quarantine to setting off with the hand brake on.

“Those who had orders pending have come into the store but we have not had any new customers because people have too many other things to think about.” Lorenzo Barducci from the homonymous jewellery store speaks about a scenario familiar to most of the sector in the big cities and in tourist locations.

Even in Milan, the downturn in all sectors is between 70 and 80%,” Angelo Cielo from Cielo 1914, with a showroom on piazza Duomo, explained to the press that, “Some people come in for repairs or to change a battery or perhaps because they have an event coming up, but there is no queue, quite the contrary. 65% of our clientele is foreign, and for the moment, there are no foreigners. There is almost more life in the suburbs where the customers are local.”

Stefano Soprana from the homonymous store in the heart of Vicenza has a more relaxed opinion, a positive re-start amid repairs and a few customers coming in to buy a gift or treat themselves. It will take a while but I believe that we will soon get used to face masks and I have noticed that people are being very careful and forthcoming.
