Zenith launches Defy Fusee watch

Since the dawn of precision timekeeping, watchmakers have been applying constant force to ensure unfaltering performance. Zenith has consistently redefined the notions of precision and innovation since its establishment in 1865, and won 2,333 chronometry prizes in just over a century and a half of existence.

This year, the brand has launched the 44 mm Defy Fusee Tourbillon. Fitted with an extraordinary movement, the brand is engineering a new vision of Haute Horlogerie. When a mechanical movement’s mainspring unwinds, the torque it delivers to the regulating organ drops, which leads to a fluctuating performance of the movement. The fusee and chain system, on the other hand, is a century-old counter measurement.

It provides greater turning movement which compensates the weakening mainspring pull, thus archiving constant force. The quest for accuracy does not stop there–by combining the fusee and chain mechanism with a tourbillon regulating organ, Zenith places precision at the forefront of its unique take on haute horlogerie. To highlight the brilliance of the manual-winding movement El Primero 4805 SK, both the fusee and chain mechanism and the tourbillon at 6 o’clock feature a bold blue treatment.

The futuristic design of the black bridges is amplified by its grey rhodium tone polished sides. The movement comes with an impressive 50-hour power reserve, while the indication is positioned at the edge of the dial between 4 and 5 o’clock. To complete the high-tech look, the carbon fibre treatment is extended to the open dial; crown, buckle and flange ring, giving off the unique shimmer of this material. Demonstrating the brand’s unique technical and aesthetic prowess, the 50-piece limited edition solidifies Zenith’s position as a leader in building the future of watchmaking.
