This year, GIT has continued to develop the capability of local entrepreneurs in 10 provinces, namely Chiang Mai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phuket, Tak, Phang Nga, Satun, Trat, Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Ratchasima and Phrae. Under this project, the institute organized many training programs on product design and quality development for local entrepreneurs, aimed at developing and promoting the sustainable growth of Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry from the local level in order to enable local brands to compete in the global market.

To meet this goal, entrepreneurs are encouraged to utilize and adapt the distinctive identities in each region to create jewelry that are more beautiful and contemporary, in order to enhance Thailand’s products to meet the international standard.  Moreover, the institute has invited famous designers to help search for each local identity and create works together with local entrepreneurs so that the products can respond to current demands and can be adapted for daily use, while also capable of serving the demand in the world market.

"The institute hopes that this event will give local Thai entrepreneurs a chance to meet with foreign buyers, and offer them a platform to learn about the demand of customers directly, so that they will be able to further develop products to meet demand in the market, as well as explore opportunities in international market and seek international business partners,” Mrs. Duangkamol said.
