Now the HK September show review needed?
Now right with the beginning of September, all eyes are on Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2019, which is scheduled to run during September 16 to 20 at AsiaWorld Expo & from September 18 to 22 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. By keeping chin up, organisers bravely says, “Rumours about the fair’s alleged cancellation/postponement have in fact resulted in increased interest on the show’s exhibitor profile and contents.”
No doubt, the ongoing protests in HK remained peaceful untill the first 10 weekend protest. Yet, scenario was changed. From the 11th weekend protester had been seen little aggressive as police used more ways to curb them. Now the protest entered in to the 13th straight weekend. According to the pre announcement & media report as of 31 August about 1mn or more people had joined the protest march. And they changed their strategy to protest by dispersing in the Kowloon city!
Last update says, China troops moved in to HK as China rejected Chief Executive Lam’s proposal to withdraw Extradition Bill. And, gone more hostile, massive protests have used corrosives and petrol bombs & incidences of fire is the reported. Insistent protesters are facing Police with their appropriate way! Now, folks are rushing to be an aggressive & I fear that China can repeat another Tiananmen Square Massacre!
Organisers should know our Gem & Jewellery business requires a peace, stability & a safety! On the other hand they also should know Xi Jinping has been given all those rights which were enjoying by Mao Zedong in 1989 & exact 30 years ago he could not tolerated a protest for democracy! He had sent 250,000 troops on May 20 and troops entered Beijing, ended with Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 4 and 5, 1989.
Xi Jinping is powerful as equal to Mao Zedong; and he also does not like any such demonstration & protest! He even cannot tolerate protest sometimes in the largest global democracy India & he wishes India should end such protest & demonstration with strength! Observer doubts if they values democracy & rights!
De facto trade fraternity wish for peace! And now organisers should keep a keen watch on protester’s behaviour & if it is necessary they should review their dates & to inform the fraternity earliest would be a great!
