Prabhu Inaugurates CFC at Amreli

Third CFC in Gujarat to be made operational by

GJEPC after Visnagar, Palanpur

 

Update 2: The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), apex body of Indian Gem & Jewellery Industry has established its third Common Facility Centre(CFC) also locally known as ‘Ratna Abhushan Suvidha Kendra’ at Amreli in Gujarat.

 

Shri Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry inaugurated the CFC in the presence of Shri. Naranbhai Kachhadia, MP, Lok Sabha & Shri Pareshbhai Dhanani, Leader of Opposition, Gujarat Vidhan Sabha, Mr Manoj Dwivedi, Joint Secretary, MoC&I and other distinguished dignitaries.

 

Common Facility Centre at Amreli will be instrumental for technological and social transformation of the workers and small manufacturers engaged with diamond cutting & polishing activities. The first ever Common Facility Centre for diamond industry was inaugurated at Visnagar in the month of February, 2017 and it's in operation since 1st March, 2017 followed by the inauguration of CFC at Palanpur on 10th July, 2017.

 

“It is heartening to know that today India’s Diamond Export Industry has attained leadership position worldwide. India exports over 90% of the diamonds polished here, indicating that Diamond Consumption in Domestic Market is minimal.

 

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry is working closely with GJEPC to devise a plan with an objective to increase Exports further which will ultimately lead to increased employment generation in the Country and especially in Gujarat.

 

I am confident, Hon’ble Prime Minister will support us in our endeavours to retain this Industry’s dominant position at a global level” said Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry at the Inauguration ceremony.

The CFC will provide the training to upgrade the skills to existing artisans which in turn will acquire global recognition for best quality of the product and ensure that the new generation is exposed to the latest available technology and industry environment.” said Mr Pramod Agarwal, Chairman GJEPC

 

Mr Agarwal also announced that the next CFC will be established in Ratnagiri. GJEPC is also coming up with Navsari, Bhavnagar Junagadh, Ahmedabad for Diamond and Rajkot location for Jewellery in Gujarat. There are plans to set up more CFC outside Gujarat state in cities like Coimbatore, Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

 

“It will provide access to common pool of high end & capital-intensive state-of-art machinery/equipment which are otherwise prohibitive for individual small & medium diamond manufacturer. The main aim of establishing a Common Facility Centre was to provide infrastructure facility mainly for unorganized sector in Amreli and nearby villages / remote areas.” added Mr. Dinesh Navadiya, Gujarat Regional Chairman, GJEPC.

 

Services offered at CFC, Amreli:

Access & services being offered by CFC would result in improving upon output in terms of productivity and quality & yield obtained by small & medium diamond manufacturer. CFC would be offering services such as

1. Analysing & marking of Rough Diamonds,

2. 4-P Laser processing of Rough Diamonds,

3. Screening of Potential CVD Diamonds,

4. Cut analysis of Polished Diamonds.

  i:  Re-Skilling of the existing artisans on various subjects,

 ii:  Approx. 4-5 short term training programmes in a year particularly on Cut aspects of polished   Diamonds

iii: Facilitates valuable structured interaction between stake holders through facilities for holding   meetings

iv: Establish market linkages & broaden product & market base.

Providing guidance and create awareness amongst the trade members on market trends and     Government policies.
