GII organised 40th convocation

Gemmological
Institute of India (GII) is known for developing Human Resources through its
education programs, besides being a reliable testing institute with matching
R&D. It is a matter of pride for GII that it contributes to education over
five decades since its inception.
GIA Excellence Conclave, Evolve held
With
an aim to progress and advance the gem and jewellery industry, GIA India
organised ‘Evolve – GIA Excellence Conclave’ on Nov. 28, at the Marriott Hotel
in Surat. More than 100 retailers were part of the conclave that was organised
with the Surat Jewellers Association.
The
highlights of the event were a motivational speech by renowned Indian author,
Devdutt Pattanaik, on the topic “Mythology for Business and Market” and a panel
discussion on “Building Consumer Confidence” moderated by Nirupa Bhatt, Managing
Director of GIA India and Middle East.
Two enthralling jewellery collections launched!

Government approves interest subvention scheme
The
Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Road Transport
& Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari approved the changes in the Interest
Subvention Scheme for MSMEs, in a meeting held here to review the functioning
of the scheme. The improvements are set to provide momentum giving fillip to
the MSME sector.
The
Interest Subvention Scheme for MSMEs was launched by the Prime Minister Shri
Narendra Modi in November, 2018. The modifications in operational guidelines
carried out are based on suggestions made by various stakeholders, including
banks and lending institutions that had brought to light operational
difficulties which were hindering a smooth rollout of the scheme.
US CTA the Right Direction
The
National Retail Federation (NRF) welcomed news that the United States and China
have agreed on a phase one, trade deal that is China Trade Agreement (CTA).
“For
the first time in months, the United States and China are moving in the right
direction on tariffs, and we congratulate negotiators from both sides for the
progress they have made,” NRF Senior Vice President for Government Relations
David French said.
Pure Gold drills High Grade Gold Mineralization
Pure
Gold Mining announced that exploration drilling near the Madsen Red Lake Mine,
currently under construction, has intersected high-grade gold mineralization
from a second drill hole targeting the widespread gap between the Company’s 8
zone at depth and the Russet South zone, which outcrops at surface.
In
addition, ongoing drilling along the Madsen Red Lake Mine Trend continues to
rapidly expand the footprint of the Wedge zone with multiple drill holes
returning drill intercepts anticipated to upgrade the current mineral resource
and also likely to expand the resource footprint including the deepest Wedge
intercept to date.

Government hikes EoDB ranking again!
In
pursuance to objective of providing greater, Ease of Doing Business to all
stakeholders, bring about greater transparency in corporate structure and
fostering better Corporate compliance so as to enhance the efficiency of the
processes under Companies Act, 2013 , the Ministry of Corporate Affairs ( MCA)
has taken several landmark initiatives / decisions during last one year (
January-November ,2019) .
India
has improved its ranking on the World Bank’s, Doing Business 2020 report. As
per the report, India has moved up 14 positions to 63rd position as compared to
77th position in 2018. India’s leap of 14 ranks in the Ease of Doing Business
ranking is significant considering that there has been continuous improvement
since 2015 and for the third consecutive year India is amongst the top 10
improvers.
