Roxgold announces new high grade gold discovery
Roxgold
announces a new high grade discovery at Galgouli, and excellent results
following up historic drilling at Fofora at the Boussoura Project in the
southern portion of the Hounde Greenstone Belt in southern Burkina Faso. The
Hounde Greenstone Belt is host to several operating gold mines, including
Roxgold’s Yaramoko Mine which is 190km to the north. The Boussoura Project is
located approximately 10 kilometres north of the Côte d’Ivoire border.

Highlights of Galgouli is, “Our exploration team has had tremendous recent
exploration success with a new high grade discovery at the Boussoura project
following on from the significant increase in total resources at Séguéla
announced last week,” stated John Dorward, President and CEO.
Kagem signs collective agreement
Kagem
Mining, which operates the largest emerald mine in the world, in Lufwanyama,
has signed a collective agreement with unions under which unionised employees
will receive a 10% increase in basic salary for 2020 and a further 10% increase
for 2021.
The
company is owned 75% by London-based Gemfields in partnership with the
Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), which holds 25% on behalf of the
Zambian Government.
Government developing the ESCS Specification
The
Government is developing the Electronic Skill Credential Standard (ESCS)
Specification. Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship proposes to issue digital ‘e-Credentials and
or e-Certificates' which are freely portable for candidates and easily
verifiable at scale by employers and job matching platforms but continue to
allow print and other visual forms for human consumption.
This
would enable candidates to verifiably state their skill levels with a high
degree of trust in authenticity to aggregators, matchers, and employers. Now in
the DGT ecosystem, all the certificates are ‘e-Certificates’, digitally signed.

Lucapa generates A$8.2mn from diamond sales
Lucapa Diamond Company Limited and its respective partners are pleased to announce the results from the first sales for 2020 of diamonds from the Lulo alluvial mine in Angola and the Mothae kimberlite mine in Lesotho.
The run of mine diamond sales from Lulo and Mothae generated combined gross proceeds of US$5.5 million (A$8.2 million) on a 100% basis.
2020 CIBJO Congress in Dubai
CIBJO,
the World Jewellery Confederation, will hold its 2020 annual congress in Dubai,
United Arab Emirates (UAE), from October 5 to October 7. Pre-congress meetings
will take place October 3 and October 4. The 2020 congress will be hosted by
DMCC (Dubai Multi-Commodities Centre), one of the world’s leading free zones,
which is tasked by the Government of Dubai Authority to drive commodities trade
and enterprise.

growing jewellery trade, and is home to the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), the

Develop each district as export competitiveness
In
order to implement the vision of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to
convert each district into an export hub the Finance Minister said that each
district should develop as an export hub. She further said that efforts of the
Centre and State Governments are being synergised and institutional mechanisms
are being created.
The
Ministry of Commerce and Industry through Directorate General of Foreign Trade
(DGFT) has been engaging with States/ UTs to initiate preparation and
implementation of a District Export Plan (DEP) specific to each district in
every State/ UT through an institutional structure at the district level. The
institutional structure set up at the district level for implementation of the
District Export Plan will be headed by the Chief/ District Development Officer
with other relevant District Level Officers as members.
