Alrosa sales diamonds of $346 mn in February
Alrosa
announces rough and polished diamond sales results for February 2020. February
sales of rough and polished diamonds* reached
$346.4 million, including rough diamond sales to third parties of $342.3
million, polished diamonds of $4.1 million.
“Our
February sales were 14% down compared to January. In February, the uncertainty
with the spread of COVID19 virus started to weigh on negatively on the demand
and customers’ activity, the factor that will be impacting demand in the coming
months. However, we continue to pursue “price-over-volume” strategy to keep
prices stable rather than increasing sales volumes," commented Evgeny
Agureev, Deputy CEO of Alrosa.
Anglo American Platinum plant shutdown
Anglo
American Platinum announces temporary shutdown of the Anglo Converter Plant
(ACP) and declares force majeure. Anglo American plc notes the announcement by
Anglo American Platinum Limited released to the Johannesburg stock exchange.
The

temporary shutdown of the entire Anglo Converter Plant (ACP), part of the chain
of processing facilities, and the need to declare force majeure. The Company's
ACP phase A converter plant, at Waterval smelter in Rustenburg, was damaged
following an explosion within the converter on 10 February 2020.

Skill Training Centres at Accreditation process
There
is a process to get the training centre accredited and affiliated to run
National Skill Qualification Framework- NSQF aligned Job Roles. The Centre
Accreditation & Affiliation process was earlier carried out on Skill
Management Accreditation of Training Centres (SMART) portal (www.smart.nsdcindia.org ) which is now
migrated to an unified portal known as Skill India Portal (SIP).
In
Skill India Portal, any entity can create a training centre and apply for its
affiliation and accreditation after registering itself as a ‘Training Provider’.
The detailed process involves, i. Registration as a Training Provider.
ii.
Desk Assessment of the documents submitted along with the application by an
independent agency.

GIFT City set to become Bullion exchange
Post
the announcement in the Union Budget 2020-21 for setting up of International
Bullion Exchange in GIFT IFSC, the steering committee of World Gold Council
held their meeting at Gujarat International Fin-Tec City (GIFT City). Among
other things, one of the key points in the agenda was to discuss about
developing a comprehensive plan for International Bullion Exchange. In
addition, the committee discussed various aspects of instituting an ecosystem
for an organized and transparent trading of bullion in GIFT IFSC.
As
announced by the Hon’ble Finance Minister, International Bullion Exchange at
GIFT IFSC would ensure better price discovery of gold, strengthen India’s
position in the global bullion market and create more employment opportunities
in this field.
