DiamondCorp Gives Positive Report to Rescue Lace Mine
Johannesburg: Southern African diamond
mining, development and exploration company DiamondCorp announced last week it
would raise £1million ($1.23M) through a placing at 4p ($0.05). The South
African-focused diamond miner initiated the funding round as a first step in
pulling its Lace mine out of Business Rescue, and now reports that the placing
is progressing well.
Blue Nile Launches Diamond Buy-Back Service
New York: Blue Nile is rolling out a new
service that will buy back consumers’ diamonds of 30 points or more using an
algorithm based on their Blue Nile price.Mondiamo, a new company, will run the
service out of its New York City office, in conjunction with Blue Nile’s
Seattle-based customer service team. The service first launched on Blue Nile’s
site in June; based solely on word of mouth, it’s already done “thousands” of
transactions, says Oren Schneider, co-founder and senior vice president of Adama
Partners, Mondiamo’s parent.

International Conference on Jewelry Robbery & Burglary
Hague: Following 'Pink Panther', this week
Europol organized, together with Austria and Switzerland, the first
international conference on jewelry robbery and burglary under a new umbrella
project entitled ‘Diamond’. Hosted at Europol’s headquarters in The Hague, the
event brought together more than 70 experts from almost all EU Member States,
as well as third parties from Europe, Asia, the Americas, Eurojust and private
jewelry/watch companies. ‘Diamond’ was initially composed as a follow-up
project to Interpol’s ‘Pink Panther’ project, which ended in 2016. The ‘Pink
Panther’ project focused only on robberies committed by perpetrators from the
Western Balkans. Diamond, however, will even extend its focus, which will not
only include criminal networks involved in jewelry robberies, including
burglaries, from Europe but also from the Baltic Sea and Western Black Sea
areas.
