SDA Demands International Airport for Surat
Surat: The Surat Diamond Association (SDA)
and the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) have written to
Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide international airport at Surat at the
earliest to facilitate smooth import and export of polished and rough diamonds,
reports The Times of India.SDA office-bearers said that polished
diamonds worth over Rs. 1 lakh crore are processed in Surat and exported to
various countries via Mumbai per annum. The amount of rough diamonds being
imported per annum is pegged at over Rs. 70,000 crore.
Affordable Swarnavarsham Diamond Jewellery Launched

Tanishq Jewellery Sales up 15.4% in Q3 2017
Mumbai: Tata Group company Titan's Tanishq jewellery sales reports 15.4% increase in sales in its jewellery business during Q3 2017, with income rising to $489.27 million this year as compared to $ 423.92 million last year. Profits before tax from the segment rose 15.1% during the quarter, from $43.63 last year to $50.247 last year.
Asian Star Profit Declines While Sales Grow
Mumbai: Asian Star, a Mumbai-based diamond
manufacturer, reported profit fell 5 percent in the final three months of last
year even as revenue rose.
Promotion of Branded Russian Diamonds
Moscow: ALROSA President Andrey Zharkov said during International Diamond Week in Israel (IDWI) that the diamond producer is planning to launch marketing programs promoting Russian-mined diamonds. Zharkov is a guest of honor at the event.

Chairman of Anglo American to Step Down
London: Anglo American, the London-based
diversified mining conglomerate including the De Beers Group in its portfolio,
has announced that Sir John Parker intends to step down, after serving eight
years as Chairman, during the course of 2017. Sir John Parker, Chairman of
Anglo American, said: "Having seen Anglo American emerge in a strong
position from the mining industry downturn, with its sharp falls in commodity
prices between 2014 and 2016, I believe that the time is now right for the
Board to seek my successor during the course of 2017. The company, with its
much restored balance sheet and a world class Board and management team, led by
our Chief Executive Mark Cutifani, is well placed for the future.
HRD Antwerp Enters Iran in Middle East Expansion
Antwerp: Diamond-grading group HRD Antwerp
will launch an educational program in Iran to expand its presence in the Middle
East.HRD will start training certified diamond
graders in a debut course in Tehran at the end of April in collaboration with
Alireza Feizollahi, a local consultant.
