Signet, DPA Setting Synthetics Detection Criteria
New York: Signet Jewelers is working with
the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) and product-testing firm UL on an
initiative to establish quality criteria for equipment that detects synthetics,
the jeweler said, as reported in Rapaport.

KGK to Invest $50M in Polishing Facility near Vladivostok
Moscow: Back in September 2016, ALROSA
announced a partnership with Indian company KGK Diamonds Private Ltd, a global
leader in diamond cutting, to develop cutting and polishing facilities in
Eurasian Diamond Centre in Vladivostok. The agreement entailed ALROSA assisting
KGK in the creation of a diamond cutting company on the territory of the
Diamond Centre in the Far East, supplying rough diamonds to the company taking
into account the existing long-term obligations to other buyers.
India’s Exports of G&J Rises 9.5% in April-January
Mumbai: India’s exports of gems and
jewellery grew 9.5 per cent to about $29 billion during April-January 2016-17,
driven largely by demand in India's major markets like the US.

and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) to promote the inaugural Thailand Gems

Winners of ‘PLAT Africa’ Visit Mumbai
Mumbai: Winners of the PLAT AFRICA 2016 – (a jewellery design competition) visited Mumbai to create awareness about the platinum in India. Organised by Anglo American Platinum in collaboration with Platinum Guild International (PGI) and Metal Concentrators, the prestigious competition is open to student/ apprentice and professional jewellers in South Africa. It promotes innovation and technical expertise in the design of platinum jewellery.
ALROSA Sells $13 Million Of Diamonds at Vladivostok Auction
Moscow: Coming shortly after their
announcement of developing Vladivostok as a diamond center, Russia's diamond
mining giant ALROSA has held an auction to sell industrial grade and gem quality
natural rough diamonds in the Eurasian Diamond Centre in Primorye (the Russian
Far East), the company writes in a press release. 22 companies from China,
South Korea, India, Europe, Russia and other countries participated in the
auction. ALROSA sold 461 thousand carats worth USD 12.9 million, including 440
thousand carats of industrial grade diamonds for USD 4.924 million, and 21
thousand carats of gem quality diamonds for USD 7.98 million. Indian and
Chinese companies were the main auction buyers.
De Beers Sells $580 Million Rough at 3rd Cycle
Gaborone: De Beers sold rough diamonds with
a provisional value of $580 million in the third sales cycle (Global
Sightholder Sales and Auction Sales) of 2017, indicating ongoing strong demand
from the global industry.
92 Carat Diamond Recovered from Lulo Mine
Luanda: Lucapa Diamond Company and its
partners Endiama and Rosas & Petalas have recovered a 92 carat diamond from
new Mining Block 28 at Lulo, in Angola.
