New York: Tiffany & Co.’s share price
slumped 6% in early trading Wednesday as the retailer reported a dip in
same-store sales for the first fiscal quarter.
CIBJO President Meets Pope Francis
Milan: Gaetano Cavalieri, the President of
CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, has had a personal audience with Pope
Francis at Vatican City in Rome. It took place on May 20, following a three-day
conference of the Centesimus Annus pro Pontifice Foundation, where business, academic
and political leaders discussed ethical challenges and strategies, and at which
Dr. Cavalieri was one of the speakers.
Jennifer Oppenheimer is No More
London: Jennifer Ward Oppenheimer, who
served as head of De Beers’ philanthropic arm, has died at the age of 50. She
suffered from a brain tumor, South African newspaper Business Day reported last
week.
Gem Diamonds Unearths 98 ct. Diamond
Maseru: Gem Diamonds has discovered a
98.42-carat rough diamond at its Letšeng mine in Lesotho, the company said
Tuesday.

the emphasis on diamond jewellery retailers. It includes the brand-new B2C
website www.passion.diamonds and corresponding social media channels. The
campaign, released under the slogan "Part of You™," aims to enthuse
consumers for diamonds, by engaging them with human stories about diamonds and
diamond jewellery, and direct them to retailers who have joined the WDM
Authorised Diamond Dealer programme.
Diacam360 to Show Its Latest Innovations at JCK
New York: DiaCam360, the diamond market's
only fully automatic imaging system and most popular instrument for creating
high quality, 360-degree photos and interactive videos of rough and polished diamonds, as well as colored
gemstones, will be introducing the new version of its diamond scanning device,
the DiaCam360, at the upcoming JCK Las Vegas show, that will open on June 5th.
The company will demonstrate DiaCam360's new diamond holding device that
handles the stone in an innovative easier and more intuitive way, and is shown
in the display window as if floating in the air. DiaCam360 can be found at the
JCK show, in booth L-117 in the Gallery section, adjacent to the Food Court.

Angola Wet Season Affects Lucapa Lulo Sale
Luanda: Lucapa Diamond Company completed
it’s fourth sale in 2017 from the alluvial diamonds from the Lulo Diamond
Project in Angola, achieving an additional $1.3 million in revenues. The miner
sold 1,878 carats at an average price of $695 per carat, lower than the $1,317
average the previous month. The latest sale brings total proceeds from the Lulo
diamond sales in 2017 to $14.5m, reaching an average of $1,747 per carat.
Undeveloped Ekati Pipe May Hold 16M cts.
Toronto: Exploration at the Leslie pipe, an
undeveloped section of Dominion Diamond Corporation's operations at the Ekati
mine in Canada has revealed a potential of 16.3 million carats at a projected
rough-diamond price of $85/ct. According to the company a parcel of 224 carats
were recovered from roughly 680 tonnes of Kimberlite. "The Leslie pipe is
our highest-priority pipe amongst kimberlites that have been bulk sampled, as
demonstrated by the announcement of its maiden resource”, said Jim Gowans,
Chairman of the Board.
