year more often than Americans – research
Alrosa,
the world leader in diamond mining, and GfK research company conducted an
extensive research of diamond consumers in the US and China. Among other
things, it demonstrates that consumers of both countries are interested in
buying diamonds, they are planning to buy them in the future, and that they
purchase for themselves much more often than as a gift.
Blue diamond prices appreciates!
According
to The Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF), the fourth quarter of 2017 saw a
slight rise in fancy color diamond prices over the previous quarter. There were
significant increases in prices of fancy blue diamonds, offset by continued
softness in fancy yellow diamonds and stagnation in fancy pink diamond prices.
The
Fancy Color Diamond Index in Q4 2017 indicates an overall rise of 0.1% over Q3
2017 for fancy yellow, pink and blue diamonds in all sizes and saturations.
Continuing the trend throughout 2017, prices of fancy blue color diamonds in Q4
increased 2.6%, with fancy intense and fancy vivid blues performing best,
especially in the 1ct and 5ct categories.
DGCX Record January Volume
Dubai Gold and
Commodities Exchange (DGCX), the largest and most diversified derivatives
bourse in the Middle East, began 2018 on a positive note by recording its best
January in volumes and value ever, growing 40% from last year with 1,909,488
lots traded, valued at USD 47 billion (AED 172.6 billion). The main drivers of
this strong trading month were the Indian Rupee, G6 currency pairs and the
Indian Single Stock Futures (SSF) with the BSE Sensex Futures.
Endeavour produces 53,007 oz gold
Endeavour
Silver Corp 2017 production of 4.9 million ounces (oz) silver and 53,007 oz
gold, meeting the company’s revised guidance on silver and exceeding revised
guidance on gold. Silver equivalent production totaled 8.9 million oz at a 75:1
silver: gold ratio, approaching the top end of revised guidance.
Silver
production in the Fourth Quarter, 2017 was 1,436,962 oz and gold production was
14,577 oz, for silver equivalent production of 2.5 million oz, marking the
third consecutive quarter of improved production and a 30% increase over the
Fourth Quarter, 2016.
China Gold produces of 234,667oz
China
Gold International Resources said 2017 Production of Gold reached to 186,957
ounces from the Chang Shan Hao Gold Mine, slightly increased from 185,052
ounces produced in 2016 while gold production of 47,710 ounces from the Jiama
Copper-Gold Polymetallic Mine, representing an 82% increase compared to 2016.
New large stones found at Yubileynaya pipe
Two large stones
recovered at Aikhal Mining
In
January 2018, Alrosa recovered two gem-quality stones weighing 97.92 carats and
85.62 carats, from Yubileynaya pipe at Aikhal Mining and Processing Division. A
97.92 carat rough diamond is a transparent octahedron yellow-hue crystal with
small sulphide and olivine inclusions near the surface. The measures are 26 х
17 х 21 mm.

27 X-ray sorters at the Cullinan
Bourevestnik,
Inc., subsidiary company of Alrosa, supplied and commissioned a set of 27 X-ray
luminescence sorters at the new recovery plant of the Cullinan mine in South
Africa. The Cullinan Mine is owned 74% by Petra Diamonds Limited and is
renowned as the source of very rare blue diamonds and large, high quality gem
diamonds, including Type II stones characterized by low nitrogen content (their
volume not exceeding 1−2% of the world production).
