Chandbalis for the season!
Jewellery
connoisseur Tanya Rastogi, once again showcases her sculptural prowess with a
fresh range of Chandbalis for the season. The collection takes inspiration from
the splendor of Mughal & Rajwadi architecture accentuating circle as the
central theme of each masterpiece.
Each
stunning chandbali is meticulously handcrafted in 18K yellow gold crowned with
precious gemstones including emeralds, rubies and sapphires. Some are also
studded with fine cut-diamonds and polki work, making them a girls’ best
friend.
Responsible business practice
The
event would be held on 1 March 2018 Collector’s Gallery, Hong Kong Convention
and Exhibition Centre.
The
discussion will focus on the commercial case for responsible business practices
in the jewellery industry. It will outline how the RJC can equip organisations
throughout the jewellery supply chain to respond to changing customer demands
and increase opportunities to conduct business in the global jewellery
industry.
Alrosa evaluates Mir for production
Alrosa,
the world leader in diamond mining, carried out initial evaluation of
applications submitted to the open contest of projects for the resumption of
production at Mir deposit. An expert group reviewed all applications from
Alrosa’s employees, representatives of Russian and foreign companies,
scientific academic and industry institutes, design organizations, and
individuals.
The
majority of applications came from Russian cities, including Moscow,
Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, and Yakutsk, and one – from
South Africa. Following the results of the qualifying round, 33 applications
have been admitted to the next stage of the contest and their authors have been
granted access to extended information for more detailed preparation of
projects.
Lucara earns more per carat!
Recently
Lucara announces said in a Full Year Results that their revenues of $220.8
million or $847 per carat while that was $295.5 million by earning $824 per
carat in 2016. Perhaps, their Year end cash position was $61.1 million over the
2016 of $53.3 million.
Karowe
Mine: The south lobe continued to produce high value diamonds during the year
with a total of 521 specials (>10.8 carats), 5.6% weight percentage of total
recovered carats in 2017 (2016: 4.9%). Excluding the sale of the Lesedi La Rona
the average sales price for 2017 was $647 per carat, in line with the 2016
average sales price of $649 excluding the sale of the 813 carat Constellation
diamond.

The

Ministry of Commerce’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP)
officially opens the 61st Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair(BGJF) under
the theme “Heritage & Craftsmanship,” highlighting Thailand’s cultural
heritage and the exquisite craftsmanship of Thai artisans while setting the
stage for local and international companies to engage in trade negotiations. The
Ministry of Commerce is confident that the fair will play a vital role in
continuously increasing exports of gems and jewelry in 2018.

GJEPC Makes Statement on Nirav Modi/Gitanjali Gems Incident
The
Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) made a statement on the
incidents which have recently come to light with regards to the alleged fraud
committed by two members of the Council. Produced below in its entirety:
The
Indian diamond industry with its over tens of thousands of factories, 6000
exporters are world leaders in processing of diamonds. The total Diamond
exports stands at a staggering US$23 billion with a value addition in excess of
US$ 7 billion.
Alrosa auctions for rough and polished
Alrosa
plans to hold two auctions for the sale of rough and polished diamonds at the
Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, which is organized by
the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in Hong Kong from February 27
to March 3, 2018.
The
United Selling Organization (USO) of Alrosa auctions special size rough
diamonds over 10.8 carats. The USO puts up for sale 121 gem quality lots with a
total weight of 1949 carats, the weight of the largest diamond is 47.08 carats.
IMDH announces the sale of its marine rough
International
Mining and Dredging Holdings Ltd (IMDH) announces the sale of its Namibian
marine rough diamond production. IMDH will be offering approximately 35,000cts
of Full RoM, Original Marine Goods of Gem quality from the specialist mining
vessel, the Ya’Toiva.
