Promotion for CIBJO Blue Books
Speaking
at an industry seminar in Hong Kong, CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri has
urged both government authorities and jewellery and gemstone associations to
incorporate the standards and nomenclature contained in the CIBJO Blue Books
into their respective national guidelines, as a measure designed to facilitate
more transparent and efficient international trade.
The
CIBJO Blue Books are definitive sets of grading standards and nomenclature for
diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls, coral, precious metals, and gemmological
laboratories. They are compiled and are consistently updated by relevant CIBJO
Commissions, whose members include representatives of trade organisations and
laboratories active in the diamond, coloured gemstone, pearl, precious metals
and jewellery industries.

CSC meets on KP in Antwerp!
From
the 18th to the 24th of February 2018, the Civil Society Coalition (CSC) on the
Kimberley Process met in Antwerp-Belgium to reflect on its role in the
Kimberley Process and on broader diamond governance. Representatives from nine
member organizations from Africa and Europe participated in the meeting
During
this meeting, important points were widely discussed among Coalition members
and in side-sessions with the current KP Chair and the President of the WDC,
including the participation of the Coalition in the Kimberley Process and its
operational management subsequent to IMPACT’s withdrawal.

CSC coalition meets KP chair
On
the last day of their internal coordination meeting that is on 23 February, the
Civil Society Coalition (CSC) discussed with the Kimberley Process (KP) Chair
the Coalition's ways of strengthening diamond governance including through
better KP implementation.
The
three pillars of the KP - governments, industry and civil society – have a
common interest in upholding the credibility of the Scheme and the EU in its
role of KP Chair is committed to promoting an open dialogue on the ongoing
reform process.
