Botswana Diamonds hopes at the Kalahari
Botswana
Diamonds said about the Company’s Sunland Minerals exploration projects in
Botswana. Sunland Minerals is a JV with
Alrosa and BOD is the operator that, mineral sampling over the 8 previously
discovered and announced high contrast geophysical anomalies in the Gope Region
of the Kalahari Desert is completed.
A
total of 267 kimberlitic indicator minerals (KIMs) were discovered. All 8 anomalies had KIMs. The
KIMs included 41 garnets, 13 chromites, 139 ilmenites, 4 chrome diopsides and
70 olivines. An analysis of the grains by Remote Exploration Services of Cape
Town concluded that the sources were likely to be local due to the abundance,
size and fresh surface textures of the KIMs.
Renaissance of Sunrise Dam Gold Mine
AngloGold
Ashanti reported that the commissioning of the Recovery Enhancement Project at
its Sunrise Dam Gold Mine in Western Australia was successfully completed on
time at the end of June 2018, cementing the next step in the mine’s
renaissance.
Development
of the large, high-grade Vogue ore body at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine is now
underway, which along with improved recoveries, increased mining volumes and a
range of productivity enhancements, is expected to result in an increase in
production of around 25%, to about 300,000 ounces in 2018.
Asanko H1 production goes up than guidance
Asanko
Gold Inc located in Ghana, West Africa, said its production results for Quarterly
gold production of 53,501 ounces and half year production of 101,731 ounces,
exceeding upper end of H1 2018 guidance of 90,000 – 100,000 ounces. Quarterly
gold sales of 51,785 ounces, generating US$66.6 million in gold revenue at an
average realized price of US$1,286 per ounce.
Commenting
on the quarter Peter Breese, President and CEO, said “The Asanko Gold Mine
delivered another set of solid production results this quarter, exceeding the
top end of our H1 2018 guidance. Steady state levels of ore production at Nkran
resumed in June, a month ahead of schedule, and the processing facility
achieved yet another quarterly milling record. We are well positioned to meet
our H2 2018 and full year guidance.”
The
processing plant achieved yet another quarterly record milling performance of
1.37 million tonnes, processing a monthly record of 479,361 tonnes in June,
which is well above the recently upgraded design of 5 million tonnes per annum.

WYSD to be observed in India
In
the row to observe World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) on July 15, IndiaSkills National Competitions held to
boost skill India. This year WorldSkills India organized district and
state level competitions across 20 states, followed by 4 regional competitions
from March to June 2018.
More
than 50,000 competitors across 24 states competed at these competitions. As a
next step, the winners from all the state and regional level competitions
competed at the IndiaSkills National Competition 2018. More than 400
competitors from across the country competed in 40+ skills at this event.

AI technology based diamond grading in Mumbai
Sarine
Technologies Ltd held a celebratory event to mark the official opening of the
Sarine Technology Lab in Mumbai, India the hub of the global diamond industry.
The event, which took place on July 10th at the Sofitel Mumbai BKC, was
