The Swarovski Gem Visions Jewelry Design Contest Winners Announced!

Bollywood celebrities Ameesha Patel, Rimi Sen &Kainath Arora glam up Swarovski’s Fashion Show with winning pieces of Emerald Jewel Industry, Divinus Creations, YUG by Tanvi Gold Cast and RKR Gold.

Swarovski celebrated some of the best and brightest in Indian jewelry design at a fashion show and ceremony on August 9, 2018 to announce the winners of their design contest which drew on the latest Swarovski Zirconia cuts and trend colors for inspiration.

The presentation was made at a show-stopping event at the Hyatt Regency Mumbai entitled “Swarovski Gemstones™ presents Lumiére – Networking Meet”. The occasion was organized by the All India Gems and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC).

Impresses transparency at Kagem!

Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Chief Executive Mateyo Kaluba has welcomed efforts by Kagem Mining to ensure transparency in the gemstone sector. Gemfields continues to be instrumental in putting Zambia on the world map as a competitive, reliable and trusted source of responsibly sourced gemstones, with a successful auction of commercial quality gemstones in Lusaka.

Speaking during the company’s auction of lower quality emeralds in Lusaka last week Mr Kaluba said: “It’s been very insightful to see how the markets work and see the interface between what we mine at Kagem and the markets. It’s also interesting to see how much pride the staffs of Kagem has in their product, and to know that we have some of the biggest international buyers following Zambian gemstones.

GJEPC CSR, Jewellers for Hope Charity dinner held

Along side of the IIJS 2018, GJEPC also organized CSR initiative Jewellers for Hope Charity dinner in association with DeBeers group and powered by GIA India in Mumbai. This year the proceeds of Rs. 1 Cr shall go to Voluntary Action Association/ Bachpan Bachao Andolan run by Nobel Prize winner Mr. Kailash Satyarthi working with a mission to end all forms of exploitation of Children in India; Giants Welfare International run by Social Activist Ms. Shaina NC. Working with an objective to carry, support, maintain, assist and promote Social Services and Projects in India and abroad.

WorldSkills Flag Relay begins its Russian stage!

The Russian leg of the WorldSkills flag Relay kicked off on 8 August in Yuzhnosakhalinsk at the opening ceremony of the 6th WorldSkills Russia National Competition. The ceremony was attended by the honorary guests, among them Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Irina Potekhina, Director General of the Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia) Union, Robert Urazov, Governor of Sakhalin Oblast, Oleg Kozhemyako, and First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Andrey Pominov.

The Flag Relay started last year when the WorldSkills Flag was handed to Kazan, the next WorldSkills host city, on 20 October during the Closing Ceremony of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. After that, it was delivered to Sochi where the Flag Relay project officially kicked off. It was then launched into space and kept on board the International Space Station for more than two months, before returning at the end of February.

Fintech startup Carats.io and online diamond-trading platform IDEX - International Diamond Exchange, have announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), according to which the two will cooperate in the areas of data analysis and the development of new financial vehicles for both the diamond industry and general public. These will be based on Carats.io's Diamond Financial index (DFX) and its CARAT coin, which is the world's first cryptocurrency fully backed by real diamonds.

Asia’s largest jewellery show IIJS opens!
