Dunnedin Recovers Diamonds!

Dunnedin Ventures announced new diamond results from the kimberlite pipe KD900 and the completion of summer/fall field work at its 100% owned Kahuna Diamond Project in Nunavut, Canada. As noted in July 19, the Company has drill-tested two historic kimberlite pipes (KD900 and KD230) and in addition, discovered a new pipe (KH10-11).

 

Initial results from 133.32 kilograms of KD900 include 18 diamonds larger than the 0.106 mm sieve size. Diamond recovery results are indicator minerals from KD900 confirm that while this pipe is diamondiferous, it is not the sole source of high-quality diamond indicator mineral chemistry present in the Josephine Target Area.

Botswana Diamonds (BoD) has concluded an agreement with Vast Resources for the development of their concessions in the prolific Marange Diamond Fields (MDF) of eastern Zimbabwe.  A separate agreement will cover the joint development of diamond properties outside of the MDF, which will be a straightforward 50/50 joint venture, though the initial focus of our joint work is on the MDF.

 

As previously announced, Vast has exclusive access to key diamond concessions (the ‘Heritage Concession’) in the MDF of the Chiadzwa region of eastern Zimbabwe, through an agreement with a community organisation.  BOD will perform due diligence on the area to conclude a joint venture agreement for diamond exploration, mining and marketing.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had telegraphed in its previous post-monetary policy press conferences that the system liquidity will move into deficit in the second half of the fiscal year and that the evolving liquidity conditions shall determine its choice of instruments for both transient and durable liquidity management.

 

Based on an assessment of the durable liquidity needs going forward and the seasonal growth in currency in circulation observed in build-up to the festive season, RBI has decided to conduct purchase of Government securities under Open Market Operations (OMOs) for an aggregate amount of Rs 360 billion in the month of October 2018.The auctions would be conducted during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th week of October.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, recently reviewed the sectoral export promotion plans prepared by Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. The Commerce Ministry is focusing on nine sectors- gems and jewellery, leather, textile and apparel, engineering, electronics, chemicals and petrochemicals, pharma, agri and allied and marine products - to boost exports.

 

This was the third inter-ministerial meeting on Sectoral Export Promotion Strategy. The meeting was attended by Commerce Secretary, DG Foreign Trade (DGFT), Secretaries of Textiles and Chemicals and Petrochemicals, other senior officers from Ministries and Departments of Electronics, MSME, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Defence Production.

Prepared by the CIBJO Coral Commission, headed by Vincenzo Liverino, the report looks at a variety of topics related to precious coral reef sustainability, including government regulation of harvesting, research into methods for repopulating depleted areas, the use of DNA and Blockchain in achieving traceability, and online education.

According to  Myra P. Saefong, the price of palladium has had an impressive climb of nearly 30% over the past six weeks, and could become more valuable than gold for the first time in 16 years.

 

Futures prices for palladium, which is widely used in the pollution-control catalytic converters on gasoline-powered vehicles, jumped from a mid-August settlement low of $837.20 an ounce to end at $1,072.80 on Friday, the highest finish since January. That’s when prices hit a record above $1,100, based on FactSet data going back to 1984.
