Designs unveiled for coin of Apollo 11 unveiled
The
United States Mint (Mint) unveiled the designs for the 2019 Apollo 11 50th
Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program today. The obverse and reverse designs
will be featured on the four coins in the program: a $5 gold coin, a standard
size $1 silver coin, a half dollar clad coin, and a five ounce $1 silver proof
coin. In a manufacturing first for the Mint, the five ounce silver proof coin
will be curved, as will the other coins in the program.
The
obverse design was selected from entries in a juried competition as required by
the authorizing legislation, Public Law 114-282. The winning design is by Gary
Cooper of Belfast, Maine. It features the inscriptions “MERCURY,” “GEMINI,” and
“APOLLO” separated by phases of the Moon and a footprint on the lunar surface.

From October to February SGB every month
Government
of India, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, has decided to issue
Sovereign Gold Bonds-2018-19. The Sovereign Gold Bonds will be issued every
month from October 2018 to February 2019 as per the calendar specified below:
Tranche Period of Subscription 2018-19 Series II would
be issued on October 23, 2018 & 2018-19 Series III to be issued on November
13, 2018, 2018-19 Series IV on January 01, 2019, 2018-19 Series V on January
22, 2019 and 2018-19 Series VI to be issued on February 12, 2019.
September sales totalled $338.7mn at Alrosa
ALROSA,
the world’s largest diamond miner, announces diamond sales results for
September and nine months of 2018.
In
September, ALROSA Group sales of rough and polished diamonds increased by 9%
YoY to $338.7 million. Rough diamond sales by value amounted to $331.6 million,
polished diamond sales – $7.1 million. ALROSA’s total diamond sales in
January-September 2018 grew 9% YoY and amounted to $3.662 billion. During the
nine months of 2018, rough diamonds were sold for $3.588 billion, polished
diamonds – for $74.1 million.
CIBJO Congress 2018 set to kick off
With
the 2018 CIBJO Congress set to open in Bogotá, Colombia, in five days' time,
agendas and related documentation for the various sessions and meetings that
will take place during the event are now available online. Contained in a
Digital Binder, they can be downloaded from the dedicated congress website.
The
schedule of the CIBJO Congress includes a series of meetings of different
working groups, called sectors and commissions, each of which focuses on a
different sector or field of interest in the jewellery industry. The Digital
Binder includes the agendas and documentation related to each of their
sessions, as well as those sessions that encompass the entire CIBJO membership.

Almazy Anabara, a subsidiary of the world’s largest diamond mining company
ALROSA, extracted large 28.59-carat rough diamond of deep greenish-yellow hue.
Following the assessment, the color of the stone is defined as the rare Fancy
Intense Yellow. It is the largest yellow rough diamond mined at ALROSA’s
deposits since the beginning of 2018.

The
second edition of the Bharat Diamond Week concluded with a high note. Virtually
every exhibitor expressed a success note. Many said they played well and beg a
business as well as good inquiry. Though some of the exhibitors referred a
strong US dollar & weakness of Indian Rupee & said, they could not deal
domestic players. While many players recorded business in the scenario by
announcing some discount or an offer!
On
the concluding day, Mehul Shah, Vice President- BDB was in the dome. By casting
his concluding statement he said, well every player knows their business &
also knows to carry a deal with in the best practice. Yet, at the dome, we- BDB
