Kazan 2019 invites skills supporters to attend the opening and closing
ceremonies at Kazan. Tickets for ceremonies to be held at the Kazan Arena
Stadium are available for purchase here. The programme of ceremonies is kept
secret. It is known that Igor Krutoy's team headed by Alexey Sechenov,
Production Director, and three-time Television Broadcasting (TEFI) prize
winner.
Performances
will be dealt with the future issues and responsibility of young people for the
future. The newest scenic technologies and effects will be used in the
programme. Distinctive stage scenery will contribute to a successful scenario
implementation.
Uncirculated Gold Coin of US Mint on sale
The
United States Mint (Mint) opens sales for the 2019 American Eagle One Ounce
Gold Uncirculated Coin product code 19EH. This coin is a collector version of
the Mint’s American Eagle Gold Bullion Coin, struck at the United States Mint
at West Point, the obverse (heads) features a version of Augustus
Saint-Gaudens’ full-length figure of Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch
in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The reverse (tails) features
a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female
eagle and eaglets.
KP Chair India ready to host Intersessional Meeting 2019
The
Intersessional meeting of Kimberley Process (KP) is being hosted by India from
17th to 21st June, 2019 in Mumbai. Besides meetings of different Working Groups
and Committees of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), two
special forums regarding Diamond Terminology and Artisanal Mining – Small Steps
to Larger Outcomes, will be held during the Intersessional. Around 300
delegates from the Government of India and other participating countries,
industry and civil society will be attending the five-day Meeting.
India and the KPCS:
India
is one of the founder members of Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and is
the Chair of Kimberley Process for the year 2019 with Russian Federation as
Vice Chair. India had earlier chaired KPCS in the year 2008. Alok Vardhan
Chaturvedi, Director General, Directorate General of Foreign Trade, has been
designated as KP Chair 2019 and Rupa Dutta, Economic Adviser, Department of
Commerce, is India’s KP Focal Point.
Synthetic, Laboratory-Grown Diamond Truths: Eco/Environmental Claims!
Recently
the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) launched an expanded offering of
educational assets; Asset mix includes videos, photos, infographics and
in-store signage, at JCK Las Vegas, adding to the already robust set of
materials available on the DPA trade portal.
The
new asset package includes a free social media asset library that will be
expanded regularly to help retailers feed their digital channels with fresh, insightful
and compelling content for consumers. The social media asset mix includes both
static images as well as video assets which drive to the recently released
Total Clarity platform.
Cabinet approves the SEZ (Amendment) Bill 2019
The
Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved
to introduce a Bill, namely, the Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2019
that is the Bill to replace the Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Ordinance,
2019 (12 of 2019). The Bill will be
introduced in ensuing session of the Parliament.
After
the amendment of sub-section (v) of section 2 of the Special Economic Zones
Act, 2005, a trust or any entity notified by the Central Government will be
eligible to be considered for grant of permission to set up a unit in Special
Economic Zones.
Sierra Leone Survey moving to end
The
Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the National Minerals Agency (NMA)
informs that Xcalibur Airborne Geophysics (XAG), the company contracted to
undertake the countrywide airborne geophysical survey, has successfully
surveyed and collected data of over 75% of the country. The Company has flown a
total of 411,548.5-line km, with an outstanding 135,994.5-line km.
We
further wish to inform the Public that due to the advent of the rains, which
distort radiometric survey readings and affects pilot and aircraft safety, the
airborne survey, has been suspended and will recommence in October 2019 for
completion of the remaining 25% of the survey.
Alrosa sales polished in Israel for over$2 mn
Alrosa,
a global leader in diamond mining, held a tender for polished diamonds of own
manufacture in Israel. The company’s cutting division, Diamonds Alrosa
organized the tender.
The
company sold 14 polished diamonds with total weight of 108 carats, and 48 fancy
colored polished diamonds weighing 131.6 carats in total. The overall revenue
amounted to $2.2 million. Firms from Israel, the US, Belgium, India, Hong Kong
and Russia participated in the tender.
HJF 2019 opens the door
Hyderabad

GSI IDENTIFIES UNDISCLOSED SYNTHETIC WHITE SAPPHIRE MELEE IN JEWELRY
NEW YORK – May 27, 2019 – Gemological
Science International (GSI), one of the largest gemological organizations in
the world and a leader in diamond identification and screening, recently
identified synthetic white sapphire melee in jewelry. The synthetic sapphires
were detected during a routine jewelry screening.
GSI’s New York Screening and Testing
Department received diamond pendants for screening and found the
“diamonds” to be near-colorless synthetic white sapphires. These stones ranged
from .01 -.10 points and were set next to natural diamonds.
GEMOLOGICAL SCIENCE INTERNATIONAL PROVIDES TRAINING COURSE FOR FRED MEYER JEWELERS
NEW
YORK – May 24, 2019 –
Gemological Science International (GSI), one of the largest gemological
organizations in the world, conducted the Diamond Essentials Course for
retailer Fred Meyer Jewelers, a division of Kroger Co. (KR: NYSE). The two-day
Diamond Essentials Course was held at the GSI training facilities in New York
City, and offered Fred Meyer Jewelers executives and associates valuable
insight on new developments in diamond treatments, lab-grown diamonds, and
simulants. The training program included a refresher course on the basics of
diamonds, such as grading and identification. The Fred Meyer Jewelers’
executives and associates had an opportunity to examine color and clarity
treated stones, HTHP and CVD lab grown diamonds, simulants, and more. Two
sections of the Diamond Essentials Course were devoted to lab-grown diamonds,
where the Fred Meyer Jewelers team learned about disclosed and certified
lab-grown as well as the detection of undisclosed lab-grown diamonds in
jewelry.
