AGTA announces Spectrum Awards winners
The
American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) announced the winners of the prestigious
2019 AGTA Spectrum Awards. The competition was held in New York on August 3rd
and 4th and is regarded as the world’s prominent colored gemstone and cultured
pearl design competition.
The
distinguished panel of judges included:
John Carter, Jack Lewis Fine Jewelers; Paula Crevoshay, Mellika Company,
Inc. /Crevoshay; MyriamGalli, Gemveto Jewelry Company, Inc.; Brett Kosnar,
Kosnar Gem Co and Naomi Sarna, Naomi Sarna Designs.
Government to resolve MSMEs issues soon
Shri
Gadkari says Government will take effective steps to resolve the problem of
delayed payments to MSMEs
Union
Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Nitin Gadkari has said
that non payment and delay in payments to MSME enterprises will be dealt with
very firmly.
The
Minister reiterated the Government's commitment to solve long standing problems
of the MSME sector and give it the required support so that it can realize its
full potential in terms of its contribution to GDP and employment generation.
The Minister was speaking at a national workshop organized by the MSME Ministry
to discuss the issue of delayed payments to MSMEs and ways to deal with it.
Skill India announces Kaushalacharya Awards
In a
bid to motivate and incentivize more trainers to join the Skill India Mission,
the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) today organized
Kaushalacharya Samadar 2019 to felicitate trainers from different sectors for
exceptional contribution towards creating a future-ready and skilled workforce.
A
total of 53 trainers from diverse backgrounds including experts of WorldSkills
Competition winners, trainers from National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs),
Industrial Training Centres (ITI), Jan Sikshan Sansthans (JSS) and trainers
from reputed corporate houses were honored at a gathering of government and
industrial experts held on the occasion of Teachers’ Day by Skill India.

Profit tumbles at Gem Diamonds 1H
Gem
Diamonds Limited announces its Half Year Results for the period ending 30 June
2019. At financial front they said, revenue US$91.3 million (US$167.7 million
in H1 2018) & underlying EBITDA US$25.3 million (US$70.7 million in H1
2018). Attributable profit, from continuing operations US$6.6 million (US$26.8
million in H1 2018). Ghaghoo care and maintenance costs of US$2.4 million
reported as loss from discontinued operation.

Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) is proactively entering the
international market by joining the 64th Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair (BGJF), Thailand’s
world-class gem and jewelry trade show, to offer a chance for local jewelry
entrepreneurs from more than 10 provinces to showcase their products to
international traders, while offering an on-site gem testing and verification
service within 24 hours at the event, which will take place from September 10
to 14at Challenger Halls, Impact Muang Thong Thani.
Key for of MSMEs Growth is Innovation
Secretary,
Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Dr. Arun Panda expressed hope
that the second International SME Convention will result in joint ventures,
MoUs, fruitful collaborations in various sectors and technology transfer among
entrepreneurs participating from our country and abroad. He said that
innovations and collaborations are the key for growth of MSME sector and growth
in this sector will definitely result in employment generation and will be
helpful in increasing the country’s GDP.
Ample scope for growth in gold!
Recently
the World Gold Council published the report, A Central Banker’s Guide to Gold as
a Reserve Asset 2019 edition. The report says, on In 2018, central bank net
purchases of gold totalled 651t, up74% year-on-year, the highest level of
annual net purchases since the suspension of US dollar convertibility into gold
in1971. Over the past decade, central banks have purchased more than 4,300t of
gold, bringing total holdings to nearly34,000t. The vast majority of demand has
come from EMDE central banks and this remains the case today.
AngloGold production 2019 to be over 3.25Moz
AngloGold
Ashanti achieved strong gains in second quarter production and cash flow, set
new safety records and kept key projects on track. Full-year key operating and
cost guidance remained on track, with an especially strong fourth-quarter anticipated.
Second
quarter production increased 7% over the first quarter of 2019, rising to
801,000oz from 752,000oz. Free cash flow for the second quarter also increased
to $78m, compared with an outflow of $109m in the first quarter of 2019. The
average gold price received of $1,302/oz was only $5/ oz higher than in the
first quarter of 2019. The price has subsequently averaged about $1,414/oz as
of 4 August 2019.
