RJC celebrates 15 year anniversary in May
2020 is a special momentum for the RJC as we will celebrate our 15 year anniversary on the 20th of May in London. The establishment of the RJC in 2005 with 14 founding members is an example of what can be achieved when key stakeholders work closely together to build a common purpose for the jewellery industry. Today we are proud to have a strong community of confidence with more than 1200 members.
We believe in a partnership model. Over the last months, we have seen how working closely with organisations such International Coloured Gemstone Association, Antwerp World Diamond Centre, The French jewellery association (UBJOP), The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO), Gem and Jewellery Institute of Thailand and Thai Gem and Jewellery Traders Association can help members to integrate sustainability into their operations. The recent collaboration with The Plumb Club leads the way on how we can promote responsible business practices.
We are proud of our strategic partnership with the United Nations Global Compact. Many of our members took part in the RJC survey on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, where 70% of participating members agreed that RJC certification contributed to the actions taken by their company to advance the SDGs.
The 17 goals take a holistic approach to sustainable growth and development and address the most urgent issues facing humanity today: economic disparity, climate change and political and social instability. We see more members take the Code of Practices as the framework to support the 2030 agenda.
On Wednesday 11 March we have our first webinar in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact on gender equality. The webinar will be focused on sharing best practices on how businesses can embed gender equality into their strategies.
