TAGS rough diamond tender held
The final Trans Atlantic Gem Sales (TAGS) event for 2019 took place between the 6th and the 12th December. We presented our regular productions from both South Africa and Angola, as well as a range of goods from several artisanal productions in South Africa. Some of the South African miners were present at the tender and took the opportunity to meet and discuss the market and future opportunities with the buyers.
A total of around 200 Lots were shown, which included a full range of rough from +3grs including a number of Special Stones. The total volume was in the region of 33,000 carats with a value of around $30m. In line with previous events we welcomed in excess of 100 companies, many of whom were passing through Dubai on their way to Botswana. By value, approximately 90% of goods presented were sold, and over 40 companies from all the major centres were successful in securing rough.
We felt a more positive mood from our customers than in previous months and would like to take this opportunity to wish them all a successful season and prosperous 2020.
