Shanghai delegation visits SEEPZ
The delegation consist of 30 members team from Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE) is on the visit of SEEPZ SEZ to learn all about SEEPZ facilities and manufacturing capabilities and benefits of manufacturing in the area of SEEPZ. Chandra pal Singh Chauhan, Jt Development Commissioner (Jt DC)-SEEPZ SEZ, welcome delegates from Shanghai who visited well organised SEEPZ SEZ, Mumbai.
He addressed this delegation and explained all about latest technical & well advanced capabilities of manufacturing edge at SEEPZ.
At the occasion we, media also learned more about Chandra Pal Singh Chauhan as an active personality.
CPS Chauhan, Jt DC is an IRS officer from Customs and GST under Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India. Chauhan joined the department in 1999 and worked in the various departments including, DRI, DGCEI, Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax, GST and Ministry of Commerce. Chauhan worked in Customs department in the field of Gems and Jewellery for more than 5 years, as he also a qualified Gemologist.
While working in Intelligence and Investigation, Chauhan detected duty evasion cases involving more than Rs.1000 cr. and Recovery of more than Rs. 250 cr. Chauhan has received more than 15 appreciation certificates from Department including one from Finance Minister of India including Cash Rewards of Rs. 17 lakhs from the department. Additionally, he has received Presidential Award in 2017 for distinguished record of service for 15 continuous years.
In field of trade facilitation side, he remains an instrumental in implementing DPD (Direct Port Delivery) at JNPT which contributed significantly in bringing Country's Ranking in Trading across Border from 144 to 80 in 2018 and the government announced a special appreciation to Chandra Pal Singh Chauhan .
As of today he is working as Joint Development Commissioner at SEEPZ, SEZ, under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, having jurisdiction over Maharashtra, Goa, Daman & Diu, Dadra Nagar & Haveli for administration of SEZs and EOUs.
SEEPZ SEZ is a Govt. Owned, multi-product SEZ spread over 110 acres in the city of Mumbai located near to the busiest Airport and sea port of the country. More than 300 units functional in IT and Gems and Jewellery Sector providing employment to more than 90000 persons involving exports of more than Rs. 18000 crores (2018-19) and earning more than Rs.10000 crore Net Foreign Exchange.
