Christie’s Important Jewels Auction on November 27

Our 27th November Important Jewels sale brings together a diverse array of antique, modern and signed jewellery including a rare medieval sapphire ring, important pearl earrings and a ruby locket from direct descendants of Eugenie, the last Empress of France, tiaras and elegant jewels from the collection of the late Lady Grantchester, together with a spectacular Art Deco Fob Watch by Cartier and two extraordinary mid-20th century diamond jewels all from a Royal House.

 

Amongst other highlights an exemplary selection of diamond and gem Georgian jewels as well as our traditional dedicated Cartier section. Furthermore the sale includes fine examples of coloured gemstones and characterful old-cut diamonds.

 

Auction is scheduled in London on 27 November 2019 to offer Lots 156 – 357. Its viewing is also scheduled in London from 22 November to 26 November. An exquisite and very rare multigem and diamond art déco fob watch, Cartier is estimate at GBP 800K to GBP 1,500K or say, USD 1,035,999 to USD 1,942,499.

 

Drop shaped late 19th / early 20th century carved emerald with foliate motifs to the obverse and stylised peacock and wreath motif to the reverse, calibré cabochon sapphires, emeralds and rubies, circular-cut diamonds, the base of the emerald pendant with inset diamond bezel encasing a navette-shaped watch with visible balance, black enamel Roman numerals and blued steel hands, platinum (French marks), circa 1925, 13.3 cm, dial signed Cartier, numbered 02029, later fitted red Cartier case! The watch has been fully serviced by Cartier within the last six years.

 

By family repute the principal carved emerald was originally from the personal collection of the Cartier family.
