GII AGDDT-2019) symposium in August

Gemmological Institute of India (GII) is organising a symposium on the Advances in Gem & Diamond Detection Technology-2019 (AGDDT-2019) during August 7-8, 2019. This symposium will provide a forum for discussing various trade related issues, latest developments in Gem & Diamond Detection Technology, quality assurance and quality control that is required for evolving standard methods and methodologies and lab standardisation.

 

GII with its continuous R&D contributions and dedicated efforts is organising this symposium by inviting experts from India and abroad to share knowledge with the participants.

 

Day 1 is dedicated for exchanging current information on scientific and technological developments in gems and diamonds in the form of invited talks by internationally renowned experts. Day 2 is dedicated for three panel discussions on trade related issues, QA/QC & Lab standardization and current state of art of detection and certification methods and methodologies, and with experts as panel members. 

 

Venue for the first day programme is Convention Hall, BDB, BKC, Bandra, Mumbai and the second day programme is in Hall 2, IIJS, Goregaon, Mumbai. It is expected that about 150 scientists, technical experts, trade personalities, prominent consumers media personnel and regulators will participate in this symposium.

 

Dr. T. Mosses of GIA will deliver key note address in the inaugural function in which president, BDB, Chairman, GII, Chairman, GJEPC and president DEAL will participate.  Besides, Tom Gelb, USA is requested to present the outcome of Project Assure.  In the first Technical Session dedicated to Diamond Research, Dr. M. D. Sastry and Dr. Dheeraj Jain, India, Ann Van Spaendonk, HRD, Dr. W. Wang, USA and Dr. Jeff Post, USA will deliver lectures.  In the second session dedicated to Gemstone R&D, Dr. Taijin Lu, Chaina, Thenog L, Thailand, Cavaleiro, GBJO, Dr. Wenning Xu, Switzerland, Prateek Jhaveri, and Mahesh Gaonkar, India will speak.

 

On the second day, in three panel sessions experts like Bakul R. Mehta, Shreyanshu, Suresh Shah, P. S. Pandya, Sabyasachi Ray, Natasha C, Sameer Mehta, Ramazan Alak Mete, Neel Pethe, Nirupa Bhatt, Sumed P, Ann Van Spaendonk, and Anup Zaveri will participate and discuss various trade related issues and measures to be adopted.
